In order to even further enhance southern living the satellite broadband provider has inked a contract to provide the backhaul to NomadISP for Nomad’s proprietary Wi-Fi solutions for recreational and outdoor facilities.
The high speed internet provider will be working with NomadISP, the largest wireless service provider for the camping and recreational community. For the past two years the backhaul service for NomadISP has been provided by Starband Communications and its Ku-band satellite. Sources close to the story indicate that there have been serious quality-of-service issues with the performance of Starband Communications.
Under the agreement, public hot-spot users at camping sites around the United States will be able to access the Internet using WildBlue’s Ka satellite broadband service and NomadISP’s proprietary Wi-Fi equipment.
Public Hot-Spots
NomadISP will be responsible for the sales, service and installation of public hot-spots bundled with the Ka-band high speed internet access at individual locations. Prices will be set by the individual locations and many of these will be offering Wi-Fi as a free service. This is becoming very common among many hotels and recreational facilities will be competing on a more level playing field with this additional amenity.
WildBlue Corporation will be the designated “preferred” satellite broadband service provider at the NomadISP serviced locations.
