Many of you probably know by now that Verizon announced this week that it would start carrying a CDMA version of the iPhone. Blogs, Facebook posts, and Twitter updates have been buzzing with the conversation that this is going to be a game changer for AT&T’s mobile and rural wireless internet market. One of the characteristics of the new Verizon iPhone that seem to be fueling this fire is the fact that it will support a default mobile hotspot app that will sync with up to 5 devices at a time. This could save people a lot of money, by a
llowing them to stream their high speed internet signal to other mobile devices, such as their iPad. This is probably the greatest help to rural customers who do not get very good signal out in the sticks with AT&T. AT&T is sometimes known as not getting good reception in more remote areas. Although, in my area it actually gets better signal than Verizon. Nevertheless, people that have not been able to get the iPhone simply because AT&T’s service was not dependable in their area will now have that opportunity.
