Satellite internet works in much the same way as traditional internet. The only main difference has been in the fact that the signal must travel thousands of miles further than a traditional internet connection. Some people may find that the distance causes somewhat of a lag, but that difference is barely noticeable when doing anything other than playing a game. However, cruising the internet, shopping, writing and email or posting a status on Facebook will not be affected.

This is good news for those who always need to stay in touch. For example, some people may need to be in contact with work or with family members who did not make the trip. Other people may want to update their Facebook status and even download music to add another element to the trip.

There are plenty of adventures for those who like the outdoors to enjoy. One of the more popular outdoor adventures which may take you away from a traditional satellite connection is white water rafting. There are many locations throughout the country where you can try and tame rapids of white water. Some of the more well known trips include rafting down the Colorado River or down the Ocoee in Tennessee. Both of these trips call for a day or a half day on the river and in some cases, you may get the chance to camp alongside and make your trip even longer. This is when the benefit of satellite internet really becomes handy as you can immediately tell friends and family what you have been doing all day and share your pictures at the same time.

Other outdoor adventures may include wilderness hiking. Some popular trails include the Appalachian Trail which runs for thousands of miles from Georgia to Maine. There are plenty of other trials such as those located in the Rocky Mountains and those in the Badlands, Grand Canyon and many other locations. In any of these situations, the only way to get online is to use satellite internet. Those who hike the entire Appalachian Trail will find this handy as they will be on the trail for months and this will offer a way to keep in touch with friends and family.

Satellite internet will continue to get better and better and continue to provide a way to stay in touch no matter where you are in the world.

Located in Fredericksburg, Texas, Agarita Creek Farms is quickly becoming known as a family destination. This farm is not only a great place to stay, but is a working farm along with a ranch. This is actually a perfect spot for those who are looking for a good place to relax or even learn more about farming and agriculture in general. In addition, guests can take advantage of the scenic views, hunting and observing opportunities.

The farm itself is located on a bluff and complete with two authentic log cabins for guests to stay in. These cabins also serve as a great place to get away from everyday life and slow down for just a little bit. There are plenty of other opportunities nearby for guests to take advantage of. For example, there are plenty of nature trails to explore along with livestock to look after or even plenty of comfortable places to simply sit and relax in. For those who enjoy hunting, the farm offers several different hunting packages featuring wild turkeys and white tailed deer.

Agarita Creek Farms is the perfect place for a getaway for just the two of you or a good place for the entire family to get more familiar with the outdoors. Located in the rolling hills of Texas, there is no shortage of wildlife and other fun experiences waiting on you during your stay.

The nice thing about a vacation such as this is you can choose to totally unplug from the rest of the world if you so choose to do so. On the other hand, you can also decide to stay connected. Some people find it difficult to disconnect from the rest of the world and others need to remain connected due to work obligations, a sick family member or the fact that they just want to post about their vacation adventures online. As a result, more and more ranches and farms are staying connected via satellite internet.

It used to be that those who were in a rural region could not have internet service. The companies that provide this service may feel as though certain areas can’t be reached either due to geographical or topographical issues or even the cost of running the lines to rural regions. However, satellite internet takes away all those concerns since it doesn’t rely on wires. Instead, all you need is to subscribe to the service and it works almost like wireless internet with a signal being shot into space to a communication satellite. Despite the distance covered, the signal is just as fast as any other type of internet service and now comes at almost an identical price. This can be very beneficial for vacation spots which may be located in the middle of a rural area and haven’t been able to have internet before or have had it at a very slow speed. Having internet service also makes a vacation spot a little more attractive as it gives visitors piece of mind that they can stay connected no matter where they happen to be.

Nestled in a beautiful corner ofVermont, the Liberty Hill Farm is a place where guests can tune in to nature while still being plugged into the internet. Here, visitors can help out around a working farm and also take in the beautiful views or maybe try their hand at outdoor sports at some of the nearby ski resorts.

Guests’ days begin with a fabulous country breakfast served around a dining room table and offering a chance to make plans and meet new friends. Kids can then choose to play with the farm’s kittens, chase chickens or even feed newborn calves. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other tasks and fun things to explore. Summer guests can also take time to raft down the nearbyWhite River or enjoy miles of cross country trials. In the winter, guests can take in some charming nearby villages and ski areas including Killington and Sugarbush.

The atmosphere is also very casual and laid back. Guests can choose what they want to do and how active they want to be. Each day at Liberty Hill Farm is different, but will always include home cooked meals and the chance to relax. Guests stay in the 184 year old main house complete with butternut moldings, maple wood floors and comfortable furnishings to make you feel completely at home. Since its beginnings as a vacation destination in 1984, the farm has welcomed guests from all fifty states as well as many from around the world. Many guests are so taken with the region and their stay that they return time and time again.

The good news for travelers is that even when visiting a 184 year old farm, they can still be in touch with others by using satellite internet. Often times, cell phones won’t work in these regions thanks to spotty cell towers and other aspects such as the mountains of Vermont getting in the way of the signal. In addition, work continues in Vermont to try and bring traditional internet service to all the villages and communities. However, the work is slow going because of the rural nature of the state and also because of rugged terrain. In fact, some areas are actually seeing their internet land lines installed using a mule or horse because equipment can’t get into some areas.

This is where the importance of satellite internet comes into play. Instead of having to rely on traditional land line, all subscribers need is a shot into the southern sky. With satellite internet, subscribers will still get the same fast service as DSL or cable internet and at a very similar price. The advantage is that you can be located anywhere in the world and still be connected to family, friends and work through the internet in this manner. This is important for those who will be staying on vacation for a few days to a few weeks and need to remain in touch with the rest of the world. In fact, more guests look for such spots as the Liberty Hill Farm to make sure that they are online.

Finally, after a long sleep, rural areas seeking high speed internet connections can expect a boost in 2012. With more and more of the baby boomers reaching retirement and moving to the rural areas, the demand for satellite high speed internet has increased tremendously. In recent past years, this has become a challenge for companies providing not only internet service, but fast internet service.

For the moment, satellite internet and high speed services remain a niche market. Only about a million rural subscribers receive these services currently. However, there are approximately 10 million homes without internet service. But, the baby boomers expect to change all of this as the rural areas become more developed. The slow dial up services currently available in some rural areas will become a thing of the past. For those of us living in largely populated areas, it’s almost unimaginable that the slow dial up services still exist.

The challenges that rural areas currently face with access to high speed internet services are many. One major problem for providing service to the rural areas is the cost. These rural areas up until recently were considered under populated. In order to provide these under populated areas with terrestrial high speed internet, it would require a costly infrastructure. The lack of people and homes in these rural areas up until recently did not reveal to most service providers that there could be the possibility of profit. Therefore, it is bad business on the part of most high speed internet companies.

However, some wireless high speed internet providers did find a way to get service to the rural areas, through satellite broadband connection, once again the cost was prohibitive to many consumers. That’s because many companies that provided this service passed the cost of the equipment on to the end user. In addition to the high monthly service cost, many consumers ended up going right back to the old dial up connections.

However, thanks to the baby boomers and the almost 10 million rural area homes existing without internet or still using the antiquated dial up service, many high speed providers are seeing an increase in demand. This increase in demand means that these once under populated rural areas are going to have much better choices. This also means that, high speed internet and high speed satellite companies are going to start competing more heavily against each other for a market of consumers that are virtually untapped.

We can expect that by the year 2012, we will see development and building while high speed internet providers and satellite companies install equipment in places where they were once unwilling to go. Rural areas will no longer be the unforgotten market and will have many options and choices. The satellite high speed internet companies will however have a good head start. These are companies that were willing to provide the service when others were afraid to take the risk. Additionally, they provided service at an affordable price to the consumer.

So, we can look forward to the year 2012 as being a signature year for rural areas and those baby boomers looking to leave the modern conveniences of the urban life. However, just because they are abandoning the rat race of the urban city areas for the calm serenity of the rural areas and country life, it does not mean that they intend to part with all modern conveniences. After all, some things we simply can’t do without and high speed internet is one. Just like innovation paved the way for new technology in the area of high speed internet services, the inability for the baby boomers to part with the modern conveniences of urban life and the immediate gratification of fast internet services will pave the way for the rural areas to completely step into the 21st century.

middle of nowhere. We think about man being at one with nature and living without modern life conveniences such as the cell phone, cable television, and high speed internet. Actually, we think of the word farm and in no way do we equate it with a computer or
Believe it or not technology has come to play a huge role in the way farmers now operate their land and business. Farming is not only modern technology. We immediately picture in our minds a large open range with barns and cows and horses. We probably envision a cowboy with spurs and chaps on. We would be absolutely incorrect in our assumptions.

a way of life for many living in the rural areas, but it’s their business. Like most businesses, farmers had to also figure out ways to increase productivity and growth. New generations of farmers had to introduce technology to their operations and many did so by utilizing the internet. However, because these farmers live mostly in low populated areas, many challenges were apparent.

Because farmers wanted to increase productivity, they required internet services that enabled them to keep up with demand. Many

farmers began looking into internet services that fit their needs and found that they only had the option of dial up internet service. Although inexpensive, dial up services were awfully slow and did not help them increase productivity. Most farmers although operating as a business, have a love of nature. So, being stuck in an office waiting for things to download because of the dreadfully slow dial up service would not work. However, these were the services they were offered. Knowing there had to be other options,

they began to research for ways to gain fast internet speed.

Farmers soon found that finding rural high speed broadband and internet services would not be an easy task. But, they also had more

choices than they first imagined. There were options that included wireless internet service, broadband high speed internet, and cable internet. However, each one of these came with different challenges.

The
seemed like a great idea because it could offer mobility, or so they thought. Farmers pictured themselves out on the open range, on top of their horses, with a laptop in hand. They soon found out that wireless internet for city folk were a little different than wireless high speed internet for country folk. The difference was that people in the city had access to hot spot locations, making it easy for them to access the high speed internet from virtually anywhere in the city. Farmers of course, were nowhere near these super internet cafes.

Another option farmers living in rural areas wanting high speed internet thought of was cable internet. This seemed like a great idea because it allowed them to go through the same companies that provided their cable television service. This too offered limitations in that most cable companies although providing television service to the rural areas, did not offer rural area high speed internet service. But, they would often partner up with broadband satellite companies, becoming affiliates and earning commissions on their referrals.

Although the cable companies referred these rural area consumers to the high speed broadband internet companies and earned a handsome reward for their referrals, it actually turned out to be winning situations for all parties involved. The broadband satellite companies were able to offer the farmers living in the low populated areas fast rural internet service at reasonable prices. Farmers were happy that they were able to keep up with modern times and meet productivity demands. They were even happier that they were able to spend more time doing what they loved, and that was farming.

Everyone needs a vacation once in a while and I’m sure you are no different. If you work from home people may think it would be easier for you to get away for a week or longer but this is not necessarily the case. In all actuality, in today’s technologically advanced world, you likely have to have your computer with you seven days a week to keep your business running. If this sounds like you I bet you would like to know of a way you could just pack up and go on that fishing trip you’ve been thinking about, if such a way exists…right?

Luckily, rural satellite internet is offered in places you would never imagine. I could take a trip to the country and stay in some remote cabin and still stay on top of things. A trip to a beach resort? No problem, because satellite service is available there too.

You may think it can’t be much of a vacation if you bring your work or computer with you but for some of us it is a necessity. Now we don’t have to be tied down to our cable – we can go places and have some fun with rural high speed broadband.

This is not just a good idea, it’s a great idea! Before you make your plans check out some of the places you are interested in visiting and you will be happily surprised to find that most areas that were once considered ‘off the grid’ now advertise their rural satellite internet service for your convenience.

It is now shown to be the smart thing to have for your business, whether it be a mom & pop outfit or a nice out-of-the-way beachfront getaway. They’ve all come to realize the huge benefits to them for offering satellite connections to their customers.

Caught a fish? Take a picture before you let it go and send it to your friends and family. Looking for something to do on a rainy day? Surf the local scene and see what they have to offer in the way of entertainment or historical spots. Check the weather and plan accordingly. You’ll know whether to pack the sun tan lotion or raincoats and sweaters.

Just want to keep in touch with your Facebook friends? What a great way to let them see and hear how much fun you are having. The uses are endless and always available when you choose a venue that has rural satellite internet connections.

So, your vacation is all planned; one week on the beach and one week in the mountains and now you know you will likely be able to find numerous places to stay that has the rural satellite internet connection you need. You get to keep your business running in a timely manner and still have time away from the crowds.

With your new found knowledge, next year you might even be brave enough to take that cruise you’ve always wanted to take, but was not able to because you couldn’t be away from internet access! Yes, it’s true. Broadband satellite internet is also available on board cruise ships. You can take the trip, live the high life, and bring the office with you!

So we are all aware of wireless internet and how it has changed the way we live, work, and interact in our everyday lives. Maybe

something that is not talked about as much “yet” is wireless electricity, but I assure you the conversation is on its way. Maybe, you have seen the charging pads you can get at places like Best Buy, where you can just lay your devices on a pad and they will start charging. Of course each device has to be equipped with a charging case that is usually included with the charging pad. The technology is coming, though where devices will not need to make any contact with a charging surface in order to recharge. The charge will be carried completely wirelessly through the air.

What could this possibly have to do with wireless internet you might ask? Well, just imagine being able to carry your laptop around the house or around office without ever needing to plug them in for anything. These two technologies would complement each other wonderfully. I suspect there will probably be some hardware and connection requirements, just as with wireless internet you must have some type of high speed internet service. In other words you can’t have dial up internet. Who knows, the same requirement may exist for wireless electricity. I realize this presents a major problem for many people in rural areas as dial up internet may be the only connection they have access to. If you fall in this category, you will need to get satellite internet service. There are several companies that offer this type of rural internet service. So, embrace and get ready for the next big thing, which very well may be wireless electricity, and if you don’t have high speed internet service you had better get prepared. MyBlueDish can most likely help you out if you are in this situation, just give them a call.

To be fair RockMelt is not the first company to attempt a social media web browser. A browser known as Flock was actually launched a few years ago. However, when it launched social media had not quite reached its peak, and therefore the browser did not take off as well as hoped. RockMelt believes it has a unique offering to those wanting to stay social while browsing the web at the same time. The primary problem I see with these types of browsers is that they will not work well for people that still have dial up internet access. Just recently I have heard several people saying “Dial up, who still has dial up?” I assure you most people would be very surprised to know the number of people located in rural areas that still only have dial up internet access. I have read that it is actually as high as 30%. Of course these people can get satellite internet service, which in many cases is their only option to receive high speed internet service. Browsing the web is hard enough on dial up without having to load the latest data feed for your friends list. I am not sure Facebook will even load on dial up without timing out. Unfortunately, it seems as if people on dial up are going to be left out with this new wave of internet browsing. The only advice I know to give is get some high speed satellite internet service.

I was reading through some testimonials the other day when I came across an individual expressing his gratitude to WildBlue for enabling him to have access to his online classes. Now, I know we have talked about online degrees before, but I felt compelled to bring it up again after reading this testimonial. I can relate to people taking online classes and even getting online degrees as I have several friends getting their entire degree online, and I have even taken some online classes in the past. I just thought about how difficult this would be without access to high-speed internet service. I live in a rural area myself and went to a fairly small high school, that actually required me to take one of my classes via correspondence because the class was not offered at the school. This was back when dial-up internet was the only option. I had to snail mail all of the class work to the teacher, and the course material was sent to me on a CD. When I read that testimonial I kept thinking about how awful it would be to have to go back to that.

Online degrees are not something to be frowned upon at all anymore. Very prestigious universities have now started offering online degree options or at least placing a large portion of their course content online. I know that MIT has started an initiative to get all their class learning material placed online so anyone in the world can access it. Actually, I even read the other day that Harvard has started, or will be starting an online degree program. The truth is if you do not have access to fast high-speed internet you will get left behind very quickly in the realm of education. Even if you are getting your degree from a physical university you still need broadband access to connect to others in the class with you. I guess the moral of this post is if you do not have access to broadband internet, get it. Even if DSL and Cable are not available to you there is still satellite internet. So, there is really no excuse.

I am sure all of us, or at least most of us, use Facebook as well as many other social media tools. In light of the Social Network movie that recently came out, which was the story of the founding of Facebook, I thought it might be nice to talk a little about social media. This wave of interactively connecting to family and friends through social networking has come to be something that many people I know do not think they could live without. However, the reality is that many people in rural areas are forced to live without these sort of utilities at their disposal simply because they only have access to dial-up internet. These people don’t know what they are missing right?

Unfortunately, it seems dial-up internet just does not work well with social media websites. Often, the browser ends up timing out and it just does not provide the social and interactive experience that these types of websites were designed to provide. Since cable and DSL are not options for many people in rural areas, the only way for them to get access to fast broadband internet is to turn to satellite internet service. The crazy thing is many people do not even know satellite internet exists or do not understand it enough to realize it is a viable solution to their problem. I was actually talking to a friend of mine a couple weeks ago who was describing to me how frustrated she was that she could not use Skype to communicate with her family over in China. She literally did not know that satellite internet was an option for her, and was relieved when I told her about it. Now, there are a few different options for satellite internet out there if you happen to be one of these people. However, I usually suggest WildBlue Satellite Service to people, as it is very affordably priced and has great customer service support. So, if you are a rural individual in this predicament get some satellite internet and start Facebooking, Tweeting, Skyping , and just being social.
