Using Satellite Internet On An Outdoor Vacation

Using Satellite Internet On An Outdoor VacationGetting outdoors can be fun and exciting.  In fact, there are numerous things that you can do by yourself, with friends or an entire family outing.  However, there are also times that you must find ways in which to still be able to get online even if you are in the middle of the wilderness trying to take a quick vacation.  You may need to check your email from work, stay in touch with other friends or family or even want to post your status updates on Facebook.  While it may have been impossible to get online from the woods a few years ago, things are different now thanks to satellite internet.

Mississippi And Satellite InternetMississippi is the most fun state name to spell and the easiest thanks to the way it was taught in schools. Satellite Internet Service may not be as much fun to spell but it is easy to get!

If you live, work or visit the Magnolia State you should get yourself set up with rural satellite internet service since it is not hard to be out-of-the-way anywhere you go. This is about as ‘deep south’ as you are going to get; any further south and you are in the Gulf of Mexico!

A Modern Day Camelot Uses High Speed Satellite Internet?

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

Massachusetts, Kennedy's And Satellite InternetEveryone has heard of the Kennedy Family; truly the first American royalty hailing from the cities and shores of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We even made a kingdom for President Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline. Jack and Jackie lived in a White House that was transformed by dreams and tragedy into the magical land of Camelot. As with the Camelot of the middle ages, there was no high speed internet service; heck, there wasn’t even any internet yet but I like to look at history through the rose-colored glasses of one who has a computer and Satellite Internet so excuse the title.

Surfing With the Navy, Satellite Internet Style!

Satellite Internet Service on Navel ShipsSix months can be a long time, especially if you’re thousands of miles from home and surrounded by strangers.  It’s even worse when you are surrounded by water as far as the eye can see.  On top of that, there’s no internet!  Such is the case of a sailor in the United States Navy.

Our sailor, let’s call him Popeye, is often out to sea for months at a time when on deployment.  His workday is twelve hours on with twelve hours off, with drills any time.  Popeye’s ‘home’ is a  100,000 ton aircraft carrier with a length equivalent to three football fields with over five thousand men and women on board; enough folks to populate a small town!  One big difference is that most small towns have satellite internet available to the folks who live there.

There’s Gold In Them There Hills And Rural Satellite Internet!

Friday, May 20th, 2011

“North to Alaska, They go North, The rush is on!” Johnny Horton wrote those song lyrics back in 1960 describing the great surge to the Alaskan gold fields in the 19th and 20th centuries. People from all over the world made their way toGold Mining With Satellite Internet the harsh but startling beauty of the mountains and streams that would, for a few, produce a fortune.  Makeshift claims and towns started to dot the terrain in huge numbers. It is not too hard to imagine just how difficult a life this must have been with no phones, TV, or rural satellite internet.

Could Electricity Via Satellite Be As Easy As Internet Via Satellite?

Friday, January 28th, 2011

It seems like so many things can be transmitted via satellite these days. I mean think about it…we have TV via satellite, radio via

Satellite Internet Transmission

satellite, internet via satellite, and likely several others. However, ‘to my knowledge’ we have yet to transmit electricity via satellite. The first time you think about electricity being transported to all of our devices wirelessly via satellite it might seem a little far out,

but once you get right down to it, it cannot be that different than any other satellite transmission. So, I did a little research to find out exactly what would need to be involved for this technology to become a part of our everyday lives and just how close we are.

Travelling With Satellite Internet Service

Traveling With Satellite Internet ServiceSome friends and I are planning a trip to New York in a couple of months and I have started looking at things to do as well as cheap flights, city tours etc.  I just started thinking ,wow, how hard would all of this trip planning be if I still only had dial-up internet.  The way things are, I can find the cheapest flight, book my flight, print my ticket all from my computer.  I can also schedule the exact city tour I need to see exactly what I want to see while I am in New York in what seems to be the short amount of time we will be there.  Even more exciting I can find great deals on Broadway shows.  If I still had dial-up I actually don’t know that I would ever get to go because it would take up too much of my time to plan for the trip.  That is actually a little bit of a joke, but there is a lot of since in it.  How did we ever survive in our daily lives without high-speed internet access, let alone plan for major trips and vacations.

Update On WildBlue Optimizer Testing

Friday, November 5th, 2010

I finally ran the WildBlue Optimizer on my test drive. I will admit to a small amount of hesitation as I have my operating system running very nicely and I have an aversion to looking a gift horse or operating system in the mouth.

After I reminded myself that I was “Beta Testing” I jumped right in and ran the WildBlue Optimizer. It installed flawlessly. It placed the Portal, Help and WB Mail icons on the desktop and made the other changes listed in the “Read Me” file.
