Remote Satellite Internet Computing and Desktop Control

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Camping With A Satellite Internet ConnectionRemote desktop computing with Satellite Internet is something that rural households across the nation have been wanting since the invention of computers.  Actually, it is likely that you have had a need for this type of wireless satellite connection even if you don’t reside in a rural area.  Surely, most of us have been on a weekend camping trip…in the middle of nowhere…where we desperately needed to access a file from work.  However, we didn’t even bring our computer with us because we knew there was no chance we could get an internet signal.  Now you can, with the collaboration of a Satellite Internet connection service and services like GoToMyPC and LogMeIn.

Is Dish Network Getting Into The Satellite Internet Business?

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Dish Network's New Satellite Internet DishIt is no secret that the satellite internet business has been one of high entry costs and relatively stiff competition between the major brands Hughesnet and WildBlue.  It has also been well known that the primary satellite TV providers, DirecTV and Dish Network, have partnered with one of these two companies in the past to provide bundles to their rural customers that consisted of both satellite TV service and satellite internet service.  To my knowledge this partnership has always worked well for both of these providers, which is why I was so surprised to hear that Dish Network is trying to purchase DBSD.  DBSD is known as a company trying to integrate terrestrial antenna-based communication with satellite-based communication to be used with rural wireless phone and internet service.

Can Computer Viruses Travel Through Satellite Internet?

Monday, March 21st, 2011

I read an article not long ago about the first computer virus ever created, and started wondering what the evolution of computer viruses  have been over the past few years.  I was also curious about at what point in time a computer virus was introduced through a high speed internet connection.  Being that I primarily work with satellite internet connections, I couldn’t help to ponder if there was some ingenious way to stop a detected vSatellite Internet Does Away With Computer Virusesirus from being transferred over the ‘internet waves’ on the side of the internet provider.  For example, could WildBlue detect every time a known virus file is trying to access the internet through their network and keep that file from being transferred or downloaded?  Well, I ran across some interesting information about the time line of computer viruses throughout the years, so enjoy!

Take Your High Speed Internet Connection On Your First Flight To Space

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Have you always wanted to fly into Space, but didn’t necessarily want to go through all the training necessary to become an astronaut?  Well, now is your chance, and

Satellite Internet and Space Travel

allyou need is $200,000.  What a bargain right?  Virgin Galactic is planning the first commercial trip to space in 2014, and apparently over 390 people have already signed up.  If you are like me the first thing you thought about when you read this is, “I wonder if they will let me use my cell phone to get on the internet”.  Well, although, it is obvious that your Verizon Wireless connection is not going to work outside the earth’s atmosphere, that does not necessarily mean you have to be without internet connection, even in Space.  In fact there is one form of high speed internet connection that actually might work better in space than it would here on Earth, Satellite Internet.

Really Large Mechanical Bees (Sort Of) Could Be Controlled By A Satellite Internet Connection

Monday, January 24th, 2011

This is possibly one of the coolest things I have ever seen.  You’ve got to admit, they do remind you of a colony of bees trying to build something.  I can just imagine hundreds of these little flying mechanical robots building a house or office building.  Actually one of the most practical uses I can see for these devices would be to install a satellite dish for satellite internet and satellite TV.  This is kind of ironic, as the robots would most likely have to actually be controlled by satellite internet themselves to perform such services as this.  Nevertheless, they would most likely be great for outdoor installations of any type, because they could actually fly to the place of the instillation, install the product, collect any information they needed from the customer, and then fly back.

Robots Of The Future Make Short Order Of High Speed Internet Technology

Friday, January 7th, 2011

If you have seen the movie iRobot with Will Smith it is hard to disagree that it is a great movie…that is as long as it stays in the “science-fiction” and not “non-fiction” categories.  The truth is this type of technology may not be as far off as we would like to think.  It is no secret that scientists have long been interested in experimenting with artificial intelligence.  However, up until now no one has been able to recreate something anywhere remotely as complex as the human brain or the human body.  Though, scientists are getting closer.

High Speed Satellite Internet Gmail

I am sure that no one reading this article ever uses Gmail, right?  I am being sarcastic actually; Gmail and just Google in general, seem

to be taking over the internet world by storm.  Gmail was once just a lowly email platform, but now it has developed into a full featured software package that integrates a lot of the different types of interaction taking place on high speed internet.  I say high speed internet, because let’s be honest, it doesn’t work well with dial up, but this is pretty common with most things on the internet today.  Gmail currently lets you integrate your social networking initiatives through its Buzz application and your IM messaging

High Speed Broadband Changes Social Networking “Again”

Monday, December 20th, 2010

High Speed Internet Promotes Safe Social NetworkingAre you by chance one of those people that just started using Facebook?  If so you may want to brace yourself for a big change in the social networking world.  I know you are probably thinking “But I just figured out how to use Facebook and finally started finding some friends”.  The truth is that it may be to your advantage to change.  Have you ever thought about where all that personal information is going that you give to Facebook, and furthermore who owns that information?  The answer is Facebook!  That’s right, Facebook actually owns any information posted on their site, and could potentially do whatever they wanted to do with it.  Of course they tell us that they would never abuse our information, but just the fact that one company has that much access and control over our personal information is frightening.

Fund Your Next Big Idea Simply By Using High speed Internet

Get Business Funding Through High Speed InternetYou are pretty sure that you have got the next big idea worth millions of dollars, but there seems to be one small problem standing between you and exponential success, MONEY.  Does this situation sound familiar?  If so you are in luck because there is a new website/social network that is dedicated to helping people fund their startup ideas.  The website is called KickStarter, and the best part about it is that you do not have to give up any control of your company.  The website is based around the premise that a lot of people are willing to donate a small amount to see a project that they like become successful.  This website is for projects of all sizes, regardless of how small or how large.  It is customary to give something in return for donating to a company, but not necessarily required.  Often startups agree to give away a coffee mug or some other small symbol of appreciation if their funding round is successful.  The startups are required to receive 100% of their set budget or they are not able to receive any of their funds.
