Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Broadband Satellite Internet ServiceFor people in rural areas, the options for Internet access may be limited and/or expensive. About 5% of the population in the United States lives in rural areas where Internet service is not offered. Rural areas where Internet service may be purchased is often extremely slow unless a high-speed Internet package is purchased from a DSL, wireless, satellite or Cable provider.  Some of these options are more readily available than others.

Below is a description of the different Internet options that may be available to residents and businesses located in rural areas:

Satellite Internet Companies Get Government FundingClinging onto the pretense that dragging out rural living issues will boost campaign worth, politicians are now leveraging the need for rural internet service into their campaign spiels in hopes to raise awareness, albeit altruistic in nature, of connectivity issues which currently plague rural areas.  Using federally earmarked communications improvement funds, politicians are praising how your vote will render fast broadband internet service through these funds.  Whether or not our current president is re-elected, the Federal Stimulus enacted in 2009 included wireless infrastructural upgrades which have slowly been rolled out in urban areas with efforts in providing rural internet service for residents of small town USA.

Nevada: A Desert With A Lot Of Good Old Rural Satellite Internet

Friday, August 19th, 2011

Nevada, Casinos And Satellite InternetHigh Speed Rural Satellite Internet is by no means old but has been around long enough to get a good foothold in this desert destination. A state with not much water, beautiful sunsets, snow-covered mountains (Nevada is Spanish for snow-covered), and laws that allow just about anything, or I should say a lack of laws.

There is definitely no law against setting up your computer with rural satellite internet service. This ‘lack of laws’ is exactly how they rebuilt the economy after people got sick of mining silver and gold in excruciating heat and started to leave the state.

A Modern Day Camelot Uses High Speed Satellite Internet?

Massachusetts, Kennedy's And Satellite InternetEveryone has heard of the Kennedy Family; truly the first American royalty hailing from the cities and shores of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We even made a kingdom for President Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline. Jack and Jackie lived in a White House that was transformed by dreams and tragedy into the magical land of Camelot. As with the Camelot of the middle ages, there was no high speed internet service; heck, there wasn’t even any internet yet but I like to look at history through the rose-colored glasses of one who has a computer and Satellite Internet so excuse the title.

WildBlue Internet Service On Craigslist

Craigslist.org, a website which allows the public in cities all across the world to  buy and sell misc. products and services , is one of my favorite websites on the Internet today.  Craigslist doesn’t have fancy advertisements or state-of-the-art graphics that are designed to divert your attention from the websites purpose, in fact it looks like a website built on Windows95 that was just never updated.  However the opposite is true. All day and all night people are buying and selling goods and services to one another for more than decent, often negotiable prices, without the added frustration of paying sales tax on each item. Its like being able to have a garage sale any time, any day. There is even a “free” section where people are giving away things of real value for free just so they don’t have to haul it off somewhere.
