Perhaps the most imminent technological danger commonly faced by rural dwelling techies is the lack of sufficient internet speeds which are commonly found in urban localities across the nation.  Montana, for example, has several small ‘big cities’ by population standards and thousands of miles of ranch-land which lack expedient connectivity to any form of terrestrial based broadband service when needed.  Even with 4G cellular towers and Wi-Fi hotspots running rampant across major communication networks, the FCC is still reporting that over 19 million individuals lack access to broadband networks, a fact which could literally shell shock the retiring software programmer wanting to reside in some remote cabin in the woods.  How gaps in terrestrial technology can provide better broadband internet for rural areas seeking a high speed option remains to be seen, although some suggested remedies are below.

Universal Remote Control Utilizing High Speed InternetDo you remember the days when people use to talk about how one day we will be able to control everything about our home without even being there?  Do you remember how crazy and farfetched that use to sound?  Well, we are just about there.  Just think how many things we already use in our daily lives that have access to the internet.  We have everything from our cell phones, vehicles, computers, printers, home security systems, and the list goes on connected to the internet.  There are already systems out there that allow you to control your house lights over the internet.  Te be truthful there is not a great deal of electronics left in our homes that does not have the ability to connect to the internet.  Maybe we could connect our microwaves, stoves, coffee pots, and air and heating units to the internet.  In reality we have just about reached that future we use to talk about where everything could be controlled wirelessly from anywhere in the world.
