Broadband Satellite Internet Rings True In Pennsylvania

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

What do you think of when you think of Pennsylvania?  Independence Hall andSatellite Internet and the Liberty Bell the Declaration of Independence?  Ben Franklin?  The Liberty Bell?  How about Broadband satellite internet?

Pennsylvania is named after its founder William Penn, late of jolly old England.  Penn, a real estate entrepreneur, was owed a large sum of money by King Charles II and the transfer of property in 1681 settled the debt. Penn promptly sailed to his new holdings and set up a government based on his Quaker principles, quite controversial at the time. Some of the colonists, mainly Dutch and Swedish and English, didn’t care for this deal and eventually were allowed to split off three counties to become Lower Delaware.

Satellite Internet Service on Navel ShipsSix months can be a long time, especially if you’re thousands of miles from home and surrounded by strangers.  It’s even worse when you are surrounded by water as far as the eye can see.  On top of that, there’s no internet!  Such is the case of a sailor in the United States Navy.

Our sailor, let’s call him Popeye, is often out to sea for months at a time when on deployment.  His workday is twelve hours on with twelve hours off, with drills any time.  Popeye’s ‘home’ is a  100,000 ton aircraft carrier with a length equivalent to three football fields with over five thousand men and women on board; enough folks to populate a small town!  One big difference is that most small towns have satellite internet available to the folks who live there.

In fact, with fewer than 40% of households receiving high speed internet access, the region is seriously disadvantaged compared to the rest of the country.

Idaho: A Gem Of A State For Broadband Satellite Internet

Idaho's Broadband Satellite InternetIdaho, land of the Shoshone, feared enemy of the Plains Apache.  Larger in area than all of New England combined yet with a population the size of Philadelphia, it’s not hard to be far away from civilization with nothing but satellite internet to keep in touch.  Vast snow-capped mountain ranges dominate the rugged landscape with deep canyons and the great rivers, Snake and Columbia carving their way through this Rocky Mountain state.  When one thinks of Idaho, it’s easy to think that there’s nothing there but wilderness and potatoes.

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

The sirens blared and the sky darkened as residents of Joplin, MO headed for shelter on May 23, 2011 but no one, least of all those most affected, had any idea of what was coming their way.  A monster storm, bringing the worst tornado in US history was bearing down on the unsuspecting people of that doomed city.  Little did they know that, but for broadband satellite internet access, they would soon be cut off from the outside world.

Broadband Satellite Internet In The Palm Of Your Hand

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Broadband Internet And Your PalmNot so long ago if we saw someone walking down the sidewalk talking away to nobody it was quite natural to assume that they might be a few bricks short of a load or maybe had a couple too many cocktails. Every town had one and we would just kind of chuckle and feel a bit sorry for them.  But nowadays it is not unusual at all to see someone chatting away merrily and just generally appearing to be off in a world of their own. Has the whole world gone mad? No, it simply is the growth in popularity of headsets which enables the wearer to talk hands-free on their satellite phone or cell phone.  It looks pretty strange but is so common now that we hardly notice anymore.

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Far from the towns and farther from the cities, the cowboys of the Wild West are alive and well, though perhaps not quite as wild as they once were.  After all, Wild Bill Hickok didn’t have Rural Broadband Satellite Internet!

Satellite Internet Service in Brazil

Monday, August 30th, 2010

So far in our Satellite Internet Around the World Series we have covered every continent with the exception of South America and Antarctica.  Yes, we do plan on covering Antarctica, although we must admit we will have to be a bit creative.  Since most of our blog articles are directed toward satellite internet in North America we most likely will not devote an article to a country in North America, although you never know.  So far we have covered what kind of satellite internet technology is available in the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and throughout Africa.  Today, we will take a look at Brazil.
